North Dakota State wrestling coach Bucky Maughan is among six who will be inducted into the Division II Wrestling Hall of Fame. A banquet will be held Thursday at the Fargo Doublewood Inn. Reservations with the NDSU athletic department, at (701) 231-9425, must be made by noon Wednesday.
Joining Maughan are former Bison Bill Demaray and Brad Rheingans and former Bison assistant Jeff Blatnick, the 1984 Olympic Greco-Roman heavyweight gold medalist. Doug Parker coached Springfield College for 35 years and Koln Knight was a two-time national champ at Augustana.
The induction is part of championship week at NDSU. The Division II nationals are slated for this weekend at the Bison Sports Arena.
An NDSU softball sweep PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Nikki Flynn went 7 for 7 at the plate to help lift North Dakota State to a sweep over Kentucky Wesleyan, 12-1 and 6-5, Monday in a college softball doubleheader.
Flynn had four runs and two RBI to lead the Bison in the first game. Sarah Schmitz also went 4 for 5 with three runs and four RBI.
Sara Bosch improved to 4-0 on the season, tossing a three-hitter in the first game. She issued no walks and struck out three. In the second game, Jacki Ryden picked up her second win in three decisions.
North Dakota State improved to 8-2. The Bison are scheduled to play Southern Indiana in a doubleheader at 11:30 a.m. today.
Bison put two on team Forward Marcel Johnson and guard Mark McGehee of North Dakota State were named to the All-North Central Conference men's basketball team, released Monday.
Jason Sempsrott of South Dakota State was named the league's most valuable player and SDSU's Scott Nagy was voted the coach of the year for the second consecutive season.

Thomas says so long SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana head men's basketball coach Gary Thomas resigned Monday after five years on the job.
"We tried to do the best we could with putting quality people on the floor to compete. We did this with the utmost integrity and honesty and have no regrets," Thomas said in a release.
During his tenure as head coach, Thomas compiled an overall record of 57-76 and 28-62 in the North Central Conference.
Augustana athletic director Bill Gross said the school will be looking for a replacement for Thomas immediately. He said he hopes to have the position filled by early April.
Thomas graduated from Augustana in 1979 and was named a graduate assistant in 1982. A year later, he became assistant coach.
